A visit to the wonderful world of Wickle in Lewes

Like Alice, going into Wickle, my favourite shop in Lewes, is like falling into a magical wonderland. It’s a delightful mish-mash of toys galore, chic vintage style clothes for kids and mamas, home accessories, and a coffee shop at the back…no weird rabbits running around here (or did I miss him?). That’s the problem with Wickle…it can just be a little too overwhelming…so many temptingly gorgeous things and too little time.

To buy for me? Or buy for a gift? It’s on our annual Christmas shopping trip to Lewes and it’s never let me down. All the ladies in our family are well catered for and I drop a lot of hints to my husband too. The highlight of this visit was a quiet and relaxing coffee in the cute café area at the back…though small person did not want to leave…see below.

The best bits of Wickle (and also problems too):

  1. There is just so much to choose from (thankfully the staff can happily point you in the right direction)
  2. It’s excellent for gift buying…I never leave empty handed
  3. There is a Brio train set available for children to play with, plus a mini shopping trolley to push around the shop. Hence why Little G did not want to leave without either…(though kept her very quiet while we enjoyed a coffee…)
  4. There is just so much to choose from…oh I said this before?…but it means I always want to go back for more…perhaps that’s Wickle’s secret?
