Seven hours ‘us time’ in Brighton

Actually it was a little longer than seven hours, but in the midst of the past few weeks which has seen a series of bugs, coughs, colds, viruses and other unspeakables, we had a night off. Granny looked after Little G so Mr de Ville and I could have some precious time together to catch up. After dropping off Little G, we walked along the seafront from Hove to Brighton, taking in the lovely new shops at the arches by the i360 West Pier development (my favs being the Lavender Room…which was packed, and Small Folk Run for scandi chic kids stuff…clothes, home living, party ware etc).

It was a gorgeous winter walk, with a spectacular sunset and of course a chance to watch those breathtaking Starling ‘murmurations’. We mooched. We took photos, we held hands, we went in shops unafraid of any breakages! We enjoyed the festive feel and the twinkly lights. We leisurely drank coffee and witnessed the crush of shoppers in busy shops, then we bailed out early and got sweetly squiffy in Pub du Vin, until our table was free at Plateau for some heavenly nosh. We talked, we set the world to rights and said at the same time ‘I’m glad I married you!‘. A perfect night off*.

*Sorry for the mushy post, but it’s been a hard couple of weeks of juggling illness and work, so it was just a huge treat to put on some lippy and have a night off.
