A few months back our little family made a special visit to Mevagissey in Cornwall. My lovely friend Nichola, from my first real job (we were united in our quest to take on the PR world!), got married to her sweetheart Ben. It was an unforgettable wedding day…the sun for once came out and they got married outside in the beautiful gardens of a stunning castellated property overlooking Mevagissy harbour.
I’ve never been to an outdoor wedding before, so it was pretty special. The flowers were in bloom (oh how I love the month of May!) and Nichola’s bouquet smelt amazing. We drank prosecco, we laughed, we cried and made new best friends (Little G with little Bonnie…just too cute). The vibe was relaxed with plenty of children having a wonderful time (‘Nichola looks like a princess’, gasped Little G) and even dogs…our friend Stanley (who sadly forgot his bow-tie) and Alfie, Nichola and Ben’s dog, who was also the ring bearer. Just adorable.
We travelled down to Cornwall by train (letting the train take the strain!). It was long and exhausting, but we actually enjoyed the experience, particularly when we travelled through Devon where the train skirts the sea via Red Rock, which was pretty wowzers. We stayed in a very cute B&B, ate fish and chips at the Fountain Inn and drank the local Tribute beer. We wished we could have stayed longer to have relaxed into the Cornish vibe, but we felt very honoured to have been part of my friends magical day.
